If you have a large outdoor area which can be excavated and used for long pipes buried in your garden, a ground source heat pump system could be ideal for you. These are usually installed for new properties as the garden will not yet have been planted. A common antifreeze fluid called glycol flows around this pipe which is buried in trenches under the surface of the garden, from where it travels to a heat exchanger into the ground source heat pump. This increases the temperature of the water in the domestic system which is used for hot water and to heat radiators or underfloor heating.
